Mentawai Island

The Mentawai Island are a chain of about seventy island and islets approximately 150 km of the western coast Sumatra in Indonesia. Siberut at 4,030 square kilometers is the largest of the island. The other major island are Sipura, North Pagai and south Pagai. The island lies off the Sumatran Coast, across the Mentawai Strait. The indigenous inhabitants of the islands sre known as the Mentawai people. The Mentawai Islands have become a noted destinaton for Surfing.
